INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING

In her office Constance provides quality medical nutrition therapy (MNT) which promotes and maintains health and facilitates recovery from illness.

MEDICAL NUTRITION THERAPHY

Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) can help save health care costs. The need for long-term drug therapies for many chronic illnesses, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease, is reduced through diet planning and control. Treatment needs for those with renal failure and with disease exacerbated by obesity or severe weight loss are reduced or eliminated by balancing nutrient intake.

What is MNT?

MNT involves assessment and therapy. The assessment includes review and analysis of medical and diet history, blood chemistry lab values, and anthropometric measurements to determine nutritional status and treatment modalities.

Therapy ranges from diet modification to administration of specialized nutrition therapies. For many patients, key components of nutrition therapy are intervention and counseling leading to the development of a personal meal plan to be followed to achieve nutritional goals- such as reduced blood sugar levels, reduced protein intake or increased caloric intake. For example, people with diabetes can often control their blood sugar levels without medications or reduced medications after counseling and diet modification intervention.

Together with Constance, you will set nutrition goals to improve your health. The first visit will generally take one hour, followed by 2-4 follow up visits as needed within your insurance benefits. As this service is not a covered benefit on all insurance plans, we urge you to contact your insurance company to verify coverage prior to your appointment.
